Restored Victorian Sash Lights, Aberdeen

The customer contacted us last year at the beginning of the complete renovation of this ground floor Aberdeen flat. The house had lain pretty much untouched for 50 years, and was about to be modernised, and the client was looking to install double glazing. After discussion with the joiner, who was able to retain the original sash and case windows, the decision was made to retain the existing upper windows as single glazed panels.

The panels (3 in the front bay and two in a rear bathroom) were very high quality, and had intricately painted borders as well as rondels and rondel surrounds. Interestingly, they had all originally been made too wide, and required some subtle resizing of the border strip to fit back in.
